A good portion of this website is made up of photos that were taken in my backyard in Elmwood Park, NJ. Most of them are nature photos -- birds, insects, plants in the garden, etc.
I am by no means what some would call a professional photographer, but with digital cameras, one really doesn't have to be. Most of the work is done by the camera. I could take a hundred pictures of the same object and only a few may end up being "magazine quality". I just delete the worst ones. It's cheaper that burning through tons of film.
That however, is not my aim. The photos here are what I see -- action, color, light, shadow, etc. Just plain old stuff that interests me. I like to take pictures of the sun shining through leaves in the fall, for example.
Not all of the photos here are from my backyard, however. There are plenty of sunrise, sunset, and beach photos from vacations. There are a few pictures of local things that I find interesting too.
Every once in a while, I'll send something to a local newspaper or enter a photo in a contest. I haven't won any prizes, but I have had a few published in the papers. I was contacted a few years ago by an artist in Canada who used one of my photos to make a quilt. The feedback has been positive so far.

NOTES:
Bird Galleries - Most are taken in the backyard. If I misidentified anything, or didn't tag a photo, it's because I wasn't sure. Contact me and I'll tag or re-tag the photo.
Bugs and Butterflies - Same thing. If it is not tagged, or something is misidentified, let me know.
Maples - All these Japanese maples are located in my backyard. All the seasons are represented.
Garden/Yard - I did not tag these pictures because there were just too many. If you have any questions regarding the type of flower or plant, contact me. These galleries also contain some pics that are in the other galleries, just not tagged. I was too lazy to sort them out. There are also pics in there that represent "minds-eye" type photos. Pictures of cracked concrete, shadows, close up of leaves, chicken wire, spider webs, etc., all to show light, shadow , color and shape. Some of these were taken after a few beers.
Sunrise/Sunset/Sky - The sunrise pictures were taken at Kure Beach, NC while I was on vacation over the last couple of years. The rest were taken here at home in Elmwood Park, NJ.
USS North Carolina - The ship resides in Wilmington, NC and I took pics while touring it.
Misc. - Pictures of some recent concerts and other stuff
I will update the site every once in a while, probably annually, when I feel that I have enough to spend the time that it takes to do it. There are 27 galleries on this site. Just click on "More" in the upper right corner and it will show more galleries that you can select. At the bottom of each gallery, click on "Show More" to keep going. If you click on a photo, it will pop up larger, then just click the arrows to navigate forward or back through the gallery.
